Our next stop is the Hoff-Vanatta Farmstead that rests on approximately 9 acres of farmland off of Route 519 N. in Harmony. The Vanatta Farmstead is significant for its stone farmhouse circa 1760’s, a Dutch-Swiss-German Barn circa 1824, 2 story summer kitchen, privy, smokehouse, and 3 wagon sheds. On the barn is an Eight-Pointed Star with colors authentic to the era. The 8-pointed star is a basic and endearing design in the quilting tradition and was first introduced around 1815.
